Quick Info

We don't have lockers, but we do have group study rooms you can reserve.

We don't have a public FAX machine (go to the Information Desk, University Center for that), but we do have scanners for you to use.

PCs, black & white printers and copiers are in all libraries, color printer is on the 4th floor of Hunt Library.

Whiteboard tables are available in the basement (lower level) of Hunt Library-go to the Circulation Desk for supplies. All group study roomshave whiteboards, too.

Your CMU ID card is your library card, and here's how to find your Pin

We have a  Lost & Found at each Circulation Desk and there is also one at the University Center Information Desk.

Need a single envelope of any type?  The Post Office has products for sale.

The Information Desk University Center also provides a lot of services, such as selling stamps, individual envelopes, informational brochures, etc.

You can Ask A Librarian whenever you have a question.

What's New

Best wishes for a productive and rewarding Spring Semester!

Our Career Collection is up and waiting for you!! You can check out career books with your CMU ID card.

Enjoy the book display (1st floor)  International Women's History Month by Library Specialist Jan Hardy on behalf of the Libraries' Diversity Committee. This collection celebrates the achievements and legacies of African Americans in politics, literature, art, architecture, athletics, music, and more.

Please pardon the work being done in the Hunt Reference room.  We're working to make the Hunt Reference Room a better place for you!

Welcome to the Reference Shelf

This guide will show you some of the general resources the University Libraries have to help you with your studies and research.  Other guides are available that are more subject specific.  If you need help with any question, or with starting your research, please don't hesitate to contact us.  We're always happy if you Ask A Librarian whether it's via chat, phone, email,  or in person.   No question is too large or too small!  We're always glad to help.

Tell Us If You Use Our References Services

I ask whenever I have a question
I don't need to ask-I know where to find answers to my questions
I'm afraid to ask a question
I email a particular librarian when I have a question
I don't ask-they might think my question is stupid and think that I should know the answer
I'm not sure what questions reference librarians are there to answer
I don't ask-I don't want to bother them
