IDeATe: 99-852 Software Fabrication: Finding Books

Lists resources relevant to the course.

Searching the library catalog ...

Once you have learned the background or context of a topic, you may wish to find sources that treat the topic in more detail.  Books are good for this.  However, using keywords to search for books may not be the best approach.  For example, you may want to start with a subject search and look at the record for additional subject classifications.

This is like browsing a bookshelf in a store because books are shelved by subject.  Here are examples of subjects that can be used for searching books on crocheting:

  • Felt work
  • Fiber work
  • Crocheting
  • Knitting (also knitting machines, or machine knitting)
  • Paper-making felts
  • Patterns
  • Sewing (also hand sewing, or machine sewing)
  • Soft circuits (also electronic circuits, or dress accessories)
  • Textile crafts
  • Weaving

Note: you can do a subject search for any or a combination of these terms
