The University Libraries recommends EndNoteMendeleyZotero, and f1000Workspace. All allow you to freely gather, organize, manage, use, and share citations and full-text PDFs. 

Carnegie Mellon University Libraries now subscribe to the Mendeley Institutional Edition (MIE).  As CMU students, faculty, and staff, you can now use your Andrew ID to sign up and get MIE benefits. If you already have an account, login to your Mendeley account, then upgrade and join CMU's Mendeley group.
