Education Support: Explore Services

There are many ways we can help with teaching and learning. Explore some options here.

Guest Lecturing

Guest lectures are delivered by our subject experts in collaboration with faculty & instructors to personalize teaching and help students research for a specific course or assignment.

This support is tailored to a specific discipline, goal, audience(s), or at a select point of need.  It can also target a specific tool or library resource needed for a project.

To request a guest lecture for your course, you may do one of the following:

  1. Fill out the Instruction Request Form
  2. Contact a subject specialist directly

COVID-19 UPDATE:  Our subject specialist continue to provide instructional support and more than happy guest lecture online via Zoom or other arrangements.

Library Tours

Designed to familiarize library users with the University Libraries,  orientations acquaint students with our collections, services, and policies.  All freshman and graduate students have the opportunity to participate in general tours which are offered during orientation week in the fall and spring, but tailored tours can be requested at any time.

Schedule a Tour.

COVID-19 UPDATE:  We are not currently scheduling any tours of the libraries.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Course Modules & Tutorials

Librarians can help you develop and implement tutorials related to research.  These can be stand-alone videos or a module complete with assessment that can be embedded in Canvas or linked to from our instructional pages.

Please check some of the examples we offer in the Tutorials tab.

Can't find what you need?  Please contact ethanp@andrew.cmu.edu to arrange planning appropriate subject specialists to attend to your course needs.

In-Depth Consultation

Individual conferences provide an opportunity to discuss research and information needs with a reference librarian. These can be especially helpful for major research projects, theses, and dissertations.

Please contact Ethan Pullman, Library Instruction Coordinator if you have library tour requests.

If you require any other instructional service, please contact your liaison librarian.  If you are unsure, please contact one of the following reference desks and they can make the proper referral:
