Zotero is a popular free open source citation management tool that makes saving and citing online resources, including websites, YouTube videos, news articles, and scholarly database results, a breeze. Keenious is a resource recommender tool designed to aid in the identification and discovery of scholarly research. It analyzes writing from text documents and PDFs to recommend the most relevant articles and topics to explore using artificial intelligence combined with conventional search algorithms. It seamlessly integrates with library resources to minimize paywalls, and is freely available to all Carnegie Mellon affiliates. Keenious is available via a web browser for content uploads and text input, and can also be used as an add-on in Microsoft Word or Google Docs.

Account setup, access, and plugins

Users should first create an account using their cmu.edu email address to ensure proper integration with CMU Libraries resources. Users accessing Keenious from the campus network should be recognized as affiliated with CMU.

The Carnegie Mellon University Libraries now provides free Overleaf Pro accounts for all faculty, staff, and students who would like to use a collaborative, online LaTeX editor for their papers and projects. Claim your free 10GB Pro account on Overleaf by signing up with your CMU email address through our CMU Overleaf Portal.

Overleaf is designed to make the process of writing, editing and producing your research papers and project reports much quicker for both you and your collaborators. Overleaf can also be linked to other services such as arXiv, GitHub and our institutional repository, KiltHub, to best fit into your workflow.
