In recognition of Constitution Day, which commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, educational institutions receiving federal funding are required to deliver educational programming about the Constitution.
Since 2005, and in partnership with the Division of Student Affairs, Carnegie Mellon University Libraries has sponsored annual lectures covering topics in civic and discourse, like gerrymandering and the Civil War Amendments. A presentation of the University Libraries' original printed copy of the Bill of Rights is included in this annual event.
Join us on Constitution Day for a hands-on DIY workshop! Together, we'll design and craft postcards that can be shared with your community to encourage them to get to the ballot box on Election Day.
Enjoy snacks and refreshments while increasing the impact of your civic engagement. As a participant, you'll receive a de Fer coupon for a free drink and a pocket copy of the Constitution to remind you of the importance of your vote.
The Block Center for Technology and Society will also be on hand to share insights on responsible voting practices in the age of AI.
Don't miss this opportunity to make a difference and strengthen our democracy!
