Access to Local Law Libraries

CMU Libraries has a limited collection of legal databases and resources, covered throughout this research guide. Beyond these sources, you may find useful a visit to other libraries in the Pittsburgh with more extensive legal resource collections. The University of Pittsburgh's Barco Law Library and Duquesne University's Kline Law Library both allow visitors to use their print collections. However, note that these collections may be out of date and the digital collections and databases are not accessible to patrons unaffiliated with their institutions.

Allegheny County Law Library

The Allegheny County Law Library, located in downtown Pittsburgh at the City-County Building, contains an extensive collection of print and digital resources accessible to the public. To access these collections, including key legal databases like Westlaw and Lexis Advance, you must visit the library in person. Law librarians on staff will be able to assist you!
