Royal Society of Chemistry Overview
CMU faculty, staff, and students who are corresponding authors on articles published in Royal Society of Chemistry hybrid journals are able to make these available open access without any payment.
- CMU corresponding authors can publish an unlimited number of articles as OA articles for free in all Hybrid Journals and Gold OA Journals (including RSC Advances)
- Extras cost more Fees for things like reprints or cover artwork count as extra charges, so make sure to factor this in.
- Double-check that the CMU author is listed as the corresponding author, both in the RSC online submission system and in the manuscript
- Use your official institutional email address to submit your manuscript.
- State your institute affiliation and email address in your manuscript and make sure this remains the same, even after submission
- Do not sign the standard license to publish; upon acceptance of your manuscript, you will be able to choose and sign the CC BY or CC BY-NC open access license.
- More information can be found on the Royal Society of Chemistry website.
*Articles in Open Access journals without a CMU corresponding author can still be made OA using the Libraries' APC fund to pay some of the OA publishing fees. See CMU’s APC webpage for more information and to apply for APC funds.
