Getting items we don't have

Can't find the item you want? Ask us to purchase it, utilize our free resource sharing options, or try a different local library.

Suggest a Purchase

Would you like to suggest that the libraries purchase a book? use our Suggest a Purchase form. If you would like us to purchase a database, journal or other tool send an email directly to your liaison.

Using other libraries for items we don't have

Looking for a book or article that we don't have in our collections? Use our resource sharing options, EZBorrow for books and InterLibrary Loan (ILLiad) for books and articles. Loan periods range from a few weeks to a few months depending on the institution who is lending the item to us.

Other local libraries

The University Library System at the University of Pittsburgh offers reciprocal borrowing privileges for CMU community members via their Special Borrowers program. You can use this to access some of their collections.

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is Pittsburgh's local public library. Pennsylvania residents (and others, for a fee) can get a free library card. This includes access to all branches and all Allegheny County libraries.
