Slides that work: A TED house expert advice
1. What is your main message?
2. Use a consistent feel and look: from font to slide color.
3. Think topic transition. Slides for each section should look and feel the same. At the same time, too many transitions are distracting.
4. Less is more: It's hard to read text, much easier to process visual cues. A photo is worth a thousand words never rung so true.
5. Photos & Graphs:
-
Photos & Graphs should enhance meaning, not complicate it. Don't be abstract. Use captions.
-
Use masking and arrows to highlight sections of images
-
Don't resize, Pan: panning moves pictures around, maintaining visuals <for example, Google™'s Full Page Screen Capture>
6. Videos: Don't auto-play. Click gives you more control.
