CMU students, faculty, and staff can now borrow and explore an iPad for a week.
Who can check out iPads? Any CMU student, faculty or staff member - guests and other affiliated borrowers are not eligible.
What do I need to check one out? You'll need your CMU ID, and you'll have to sign a lending agreement.
Where can I get one? At the circulation desks at Hunt and Sorrells Libraries. Hours at Arts • Hunt • Sorrells
How long can I keep it? The borrowing period is 7 days. There are no renewals. Late fees are: $10/day. iPad is billed as LOST after 7 days.
Where do I return it? The iPad must be returned to the circulation desk from which it was borrowed - NOT in the drop-off box.
What peripherals come with it? A case, carrying bag, charger and USB cable.
What am I responsible for? You are responsible for any loss or damage to the iPad while it is checked out to you. If the device is lost, stolen, or damaged, you will be charged a $500 replacement fee. There will also be $30 replacement fee for loss or damage to the peripherals (above) that come with it.
What about apps? They come pre-loaded with selected apps. To download or purchase more apps, you'll need to sign in to the iTunes store and use your own account. After the iPad is returned, we will restore it to its original condition, and will not be able to retrieve any apps, media, data, and/or documents that you have added.
Make sure you remove your personal accounts and log off before you return the iPad!
