Library Teaching & Learning Services (LTLs): 2 Research

Find out how the library can help with teaching and learning.

Research Consultations

Carnegie Mellon University Libraries have a team of liaison librarians ready to assist you with your research and help you take it from an idea to a tangible product.  Feel free to consult with them at any stage in your research.

Data Management Services

The Data Management Services Group (DMSG) is a collaboration among the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries, Computing Services, Office of Sponsored Projects, and other stakeholders. The DMSG was initiated in response to mandates from grant funding agencies (e.g. NSF, NIH) that require researchers to incorporate data management plans into grant proposals. The goal of the DMSG is to provide a central resource for guidance on data management planning and data sharing for researchers, faculty, and students at Carnegie Mellon University.  The University Libraries offer financial support for open access publishing.

Writing and Presenting

The Global Communication Center (GCC) opened in the Hunt library in late 2012. They offer free one-on-one tutoring and workshops for any student at any level from any academic discipline.  In addition, the GCC mission includes individualized assistance and support for faculty as they develop, present, and respond to communication assignments.  The GCC director can help faculty articulate their criteria for successful communication in their discipline and conduct workshops tailored to specific assignments or communication needs

Preserving Your Research

The Office of the Provost funded Research Showcase, a repository provided by Carnegie Mellon University Libraries in response to the Central Repository Resolution passed by the Faculty Senate in 2008.  This repository preserves and provides free (open) access to work produced by Carnegie Mellon faculty and students.
