What is the Quaranzines Project?

This project is a collaboration between Pittsburgh campus and Qatar campus, and submissions and participation are welcome from all members of the CMU community.

Writing down our stories and creating art can help us all better process and understand our experiences during difficult times. The goal of this project is to encourage members of the Carnegie Mellon University community to document their lived experiences under quarantine and express themselves creatively through zines. Zines were chosen because creating zines does not involve more advanced technology than say access to word processing software, such as MS Word, and paper, pens, and scissors. What's more zines are an alternative form of media where people can express themselves through text and image, experiment with borrowing from other sources, and print and share as many or few versions of their work as they see fit. We hope that members of our campus community will enjoy creating quarantine zines, or Quaranzines as we're calling them. We are looking forward to seeing what people come up with!
