Teaching and Learning Toolkit

This guide is intended as a tool-kit for instruction librarians at CMU Libraries.

Instructional Data and Statistics

We use Springshare's LibInsight to record Teaching and Orientation activities.

To enter instructional data, use this form.

This form is to record CMU Libraries teaching activities and orientation data only. Examples are:

  • Student or faculty orientations or resource fairs, including department orientations
  • One-off guest instruction
  • Teaching library-related credit-bearing courses
  • Workshops (based at CMU regardless of audience)

Do not include instruction related to your external non-library appointments or paid/unpaid instruction outside of the university.

You can run a report to get statistics or access individual records to edit them by selecting Instruction Statistics - Current (#28578) in the Analyzing Data in dropdown menu in the LibInsight interface.

Archived instruction statistics (2010-2022) can be found in the Archived Instruction Statistics folder on the University Libraries Shared Google Drive (University Libraries Shared Google Drive > Teaching & Learning > OLibTEl > Instruction_Stats)
