The Flag
Singapore adopted this flag as a self-governed country on December 3, 1959 and was known as the State of Singapore under the British Empire. Upon independence from Malaysia on August 9, 1965, it became the Republic of Singapore and kept the same flag.

Geography Singapore is an island and has a total area of 719 sq km. It is considered one of the strong emerging international markets. The official languages are English, Mandarin, Chinese dialects that include Hokkien, Cantonese, Teochew, Hakka, Malay, and Tamil.
