Hiring of three temporary workers on HL3

Three temporary workers, (Joshua DeLia, Charles Hubbard, and Andrew Perlman), started on Monday, February 3 and are supposed to work until Friday, May 23 (Friday before Memorial Day).

Two of the temp workers have previous library experience. Over the past 2 weeks, all of the temps have been extremely productive.

As of 2/14, the remaining discards and offsite transfers on HL3 have been pulled, approx. 6,158 items.

Temps are currently working on processing 3,158 items to be transferred to offsite. Currently 96% of items have been processed (3025).  Offsite processing will be completed on Monday (2/17) or Tuesday (2/18).

After Offsite processing has been completed, temps will be working on packing boxes going to Offsite, approx. 28 carts.

Items going to Offsite need to be boxed by February 25 (Tuesday).

Shannon has scheduled box pick up for Wednesday, February 26.

Temps will unpack boxes (estimating 300 boxes) at Offsite on Thursday (2/27) and Friday (2/28).

Number of books remaining on HL3 = 5,103

Number of bound journals remaining on HL3 = 2,500

TOTAL number of items (books & bound journals) on HL3 = 7,603

We will begin moving items remaining on HL3, during first week of March, (Spring Break)

Stacks-3 books (Q-Z) will be transferred to HL2, Frew Street Side, outside of office suite.

DVDs on HL2

During February, one of the temp workers (Joshua DeLia) has scanned over 5,000 DVDS for the Video Collection. We hope to finish the DVD Inventory Project by the end of this week (7/21); 8000 DVDs total in the project.

HL Collections Renovations Task Force

In December 2024, Project Team (J. Chisnell, K. Heath, and G. Henning) submitted a timeline for weeding of HL floors on 2025 and 2026.

On 2/12, Dean of Libraries emailed staff and notified us that “extensive work on Hunt Library will not proceed this year.”

Temps will continue to work on projects until their deadline of May 23, 2025.
